How to Unfreeze an iPod

How to restart or reboot an iPod that is frozen or hung?

If you are using an iPod, no matter which model it is, you may face this issue someday. Your iPod may go in a frozen or hung state. What you will do in that case?

You may want to know how to unfreeze an iPod so that it starts working again.

First of all, you need to ensure that your iPod isn't paused. You also need to make sure that hold switch of iPod is in locked position. If it is not, you have to reset it!

For different models of iPod, the steps to unfreeze the iPod are different.

If you are using the iPod - original one, or 2nd Gen or 3rd Gen iPod, you got to plug it into power adapter and connect it to power. You can even plug in to PC or laptop if you wish to do so. Then you have to press menu and play - pause button together. Keep the buttons presses. Shortly you will see the logo of Apple and you are done.

If you have got more recent generations of iPod, but excluding iPod Shuffle or iPod touch then follow this. Put it in charging by connecting the power adapter to it and giving it power supply or connecting the power adapter to PC. Then press the Menu button along-with the Select button in centre. Keep it pressed till you see the logo of Apple appears. That will unfreeze the iPod.

If you are using iPod shuffle, then you have to switch it off and then switch it back on after 5 seconds. That's it. Really!

If you are having iPod touch, you have to press the sleep - wake button along-with the home button. Keep them pressed for 10 seconds. You will see the logo of Apple on screen. That will reset or unfreeze the iPod.

Finally, if you are using 6th Gen of iPod nano, you need to press Sleep - Wake button along-with Volume Down. Keep it pressed for few seconds. Then you will see the logo of Apple. That will unfreeze or reset the iPod Nano 6th Gen.
